KY Moms (Maternal Assistance Toward Recovery) is a program designed to help soon-to-be and recent mothers reduce harm to themselves and their children that may result from substance use during pregnancy or after childbirth. The program provides education, resources, and supportive services to help mothers maintain recovery and create a healthier start for their babies.
Through a caring and non-judgmental approach, the KY Moms program connects women and their families with community resources and treatment options that support both maternal health and healthy child development.

Pregnancy and early parenthood can be challenging, especially when substance use, stress, or mental health concerns are involved. KY Moms helps women access the services and supports they need to improve both their own well-being and the health of their babies.
Program staff work closely with mothers to identify challenges, reduce risk factors, and connect them with services that promote healthy pregnancies and long-term recovery.
KY Moms provides prenatal education and prevention services designed to help mothers understand the potential effects of alcohol, tobacco, and other substances during pregnancy.
Education may include information about:
Healthy pregnancy practices
The effects of substance use during pregnancy
Emotional health and stress management
Parenting preparation and infant care
These services help mothers make informed decisions that support the health and development of their child.
KY Moms also offers case management services that help mothers locate and access essential resources needed during pregnancy and early parenting.
Support may include assistance with:
Prenatal medical care
Mental health and substance use treatment
Housing resources
Financial assistance programs
Child care resources
Transportation to medical appointments
Case managers work with each participant to create an individualized plan that addresses their unique needs and goals.
KY Moms regularly hosts workshops and educational events in partnership with local health departments, hospitals, wellness centers, and Cooperative Extension offices.
These workshops are offered throughout the region and often serve as the first step in connecting families with the larger network of recovery and prevention services available through the Recovery Oriented System of Care.
